David Nicodemus is finishing up a new house for us and has been the best thing about the project. He is honest and hard working, always doing the extra touch for perfection. His crew is conscientious and equally hard working and he uses subs that he trusts and has worked with before. Joe and I bought a 1955 fixer upper beach cottage a few years ago. With pretty much our entire life’s accumulations of tools being a screwdriver and a hammer. Initially we started out doing cosmetic paint work. But when we were ready to tackle the bigger project, the paint company owner referred us to Nicodemus Construction with the golden words of “you can trust”. We met David with absolutely no previous remodeling experience, and a picture from Coastal Living magazine.
And so began a six month journey into this new world of construction. The scope of the work included a complete kitchen tear out, removing the existing original roof that was hiding between the bottom and newer second floor, removing a weight bearing wall, adding a fireplace, adding windows, and changing pretty much everything this side of the exterior walls.
David guided us. Inspired us. Organized us. And transformed us. David navigated us through the maze of architecture, engineer, and city permit procedures. His workers showed up on time, performed magic, and cleaned up. The sub-contractors, same. His contacts, all easy to work with, and beyond excellence in quality. He was always readily available. Love his job presence and sense of style. Without hesitation, I recommend this company for ANY PROJECT.
Form or function? Our original kitchen had neither. David Nicodemus was not put off. From our first meeting, he helped my ideas of an ideal kitchen evolve into an actual ideal kitchen. He and his crew were thorough, several times going beyond the scope of what the project had appeared to be. They were tidy, cleaning up every day and in every work area. They worked quietly.
They were careful about and courteous to our pets. Although it is trying to live through a top-to-bottom kitchen remodel, the presence of subs or David’s crew each day gave us confidence that our project was a high priority and that it wouldn’t be long before we could actually boil water again. Our new kitchen perfectly marries form and function.

As we’re drawing close to the completion of 2333 Roosevelt Blvd, Oxnard, CA, I’m writing to share the following comments about the outstanding resources and expertise that you and your team provided for the whole process of rehabbing a (formerly) dilapidated property. The scope of work included massive exterior and interior construction of a new restaurant kitchen with indoor and outdoor seating.
During the last nine or so months of the actual project, Nicodemus Construction demonstrated professionalism, reliability, dedication to time lines and meticulous workmanship throughout all aspects of the project. This included dealing with the abatement of county compliance issues, and holding the fire suppression system/kitchen hood and handicap lift contractors accountable!
When design issues occurred because of the architect’s miscalculations and/or because of the many complicated design elements, you always provided valuable suggestions - all while keeping to timelines and adhering to code compliance requirements. As a long distance landlord, I probably relied on you more than most of your clients and I always felt that you genuinely had my best interests at heart.
Thank you for taking on this project despite the many delays we had on my end in commencing; and namely because you could have taken other projects instead (i.e. The Woosley fire destruction). It was a pleasure working with you - I would highly recommend you and your company.

Dave Nicodemus is very knowledgeable about all aspects of residential construction and from the point of initial design to the completion of our project, he worked with us collaboratively. Project costs and the project timetable were thoroughly explained before work began. Dave kept us informed during the entire process. And, in the end, there were no big surprises in terms of overall cost or date of completion.
The quality of the work was excellent. The crews working for Nicodemus Construction are reliable professionals. They arrive at the worksite as expected, work hard, do good work and, then, clean up the site before leaving at the end of the day.

David Nicodemus and his professional crew completed 5 large projects for us in 2009. One job consisted of building a 3 bedroom- 2 1/2 bath home from the ground up, and another was a tear down and complete rebuild.
The other projects involved solving extensive drainage issues and upgrades to a house, including a kitchen rebuild. He constructed an outdoor kitchen at our residence and upgraded a rental house from the 1950′s. During these extensive and involved projects, not once did Nicodemus Construction leave us hanging or fail to meet their anticipated schedules.
All projects were completed quickly and on time with extremely friendly and courteous service. We would highly recommend Nicodemus Construction for any size project you have planned. They will not let you down!
We had a challenging remodel of our home in Santa Rosa Valley including the building of a high end screening room above our garage, as well as the gutting and rebuilding of several other rooms in our home. David and his crew, as well as his sub-contractors did impeccable work. Our job required an immense amount of work and the level of detail involved was very extensive. Our screening room includes very intricate crown moulding which took several weeks to install. Although David could have delegated this effort to this crew or to his subs he chose to personally do this work to make absolutely sure it would come as planned.
I can say unequivocally that we are thrilled with the end result which could not have been achieved without the professional expertise of David Nicodemus. He is a pleasure to work with. Always a gentleman. Always there to make sure we were satisfied. He is as much an artisan as he is a builder, equally comfortable with major construction as he is with intricate detail. No regrets. David is a class act.
We used David to remodel our beach house in Ventura last year. We remodeled the entire house which included new ceilings, doors, windows, floors, kitchen, two bathrooms, bannister, fireplace, mantle, etc. so it was a very large remodel.
I never thought it was possible but the experience was amazing. We finished on time and did the entire house in less than three months. His work is very high quality and David was a really great guy to work with. He has a great heart and really cares about his quality of work and crew. I can’t wait to start the next phase (outside and new front balcony).
David did our kitchen remodel, which involved new cabinets, counter tops, serving space, flooring, lighting, and appliances. The project also included opening up the our family room space to the kitchen. The work was done very professionally, and we are extremely pleased with it. We would hire Nicodemus Construction without hesitation should we ever have further construction needs.

In addition to being hardworking, honest and skilled David and his crew have collaborated with us in the design process and enabled “our” design to become a beautiful reality.
